Maurice Mpolo

But what they did to Congo was so brutal and so callous and evil, like I'm legitimately in tears describing this story.

And Moise Chouambe and two of his ministers and four Belgian officers stood and watched as Patrice Lumumba, Maurice Mpolo, and Joseph Okito were put against a tree and shot one at a time between 9.40 and 9.43 p.m. Patrice Lumumba was 35 years old.

Maurice Mpolo was 32 years old.

And Joseph Okito was 50.

And all three of them were going through this all together, and they died together.

Maurice Mpolo and Joseph Okito were also prominent Congolese politicians and key allies of Patrice Lumumba, which is why they were assassinating all of them together.

And I can't even imagine what those last few minutes were like, just sitting there together, knowing that there is no UN going to help us.

There is no Soviets coming in to save us.
