so the North American Lutheran Church, or the NALC, that was, if you go back to 2009, when the ELCA voted to open the pathway to the ordination of homosexual clergy, practicing homosexuals, and then the marriage of same-sex couples.

In 2010, there was a group of, I believe it was 17 congregations got together and and said, we are not going along with this.

The ELCA has gone in too far of a direction that we can't follow.

And so they formed their own church body, the North American Lutheran Church.

There was an earlier Lutheran church body, the Lutheran Congregations and Mission for Christ, which was started in 2001, had already existed.

but the NALC wanted to hold some of the same polity that the ELCA had, a little more structure than what the LCMC had, and so they formed this church body in 2010.
