The Shirtless Violinist

When Matthew Castle was 17, he took a small duffel bag and his violin and slipped out of a bedroom window of his family home.

He was escaping a life in the high-demand religion, the Institute of Basic Life Principles, or IBLP.

Music had sustained Matthew while he was growing up in the IBLP, and it would continue to do so once he was free and living an autonomous life.

I'm so happy that you're here.

As I'm sure you know, if you've listened to this podcast for a while, I am all about the healing power of creative expression.

Today I have the privilege of sharing an interview with Matthew Castle.

Matthew is, among other things, an incredible violinist.

I've actually added his playlists to my favorites on Spotify recently, and I'm really enjoying having his instrumental music on in the background while I'm working or writing.

Hello, and welcome to the Backpage Video Games Podcast.

I'm Samuel Roberts, and I'm joined, as ever, by Matthew Castle.

Hello.

Hello, Matthew.

How's your time at the movies been this week? It's another 7.30 podcast.

I'm just waking up.

I'm happy to accept that I've learned that lesson.

Very precious, our listeners.
