So I was suggesting that Mary might have been a second or subsequent wife of Joseph based on those.

Because when we get this list of the siblings in Mark chapter 6 and Matthew 2, It's long.

Jesus has at least six, possibly more, siblings.

And that seemed to me extremely large in the ancient world.

And he wanted it right at the entrance to the Hell Ranch, Zorro Ranch entrance.

And this depicts something from the New Testament, Matthew 2, where they're trying to kill Christ.

And Herod says, where is Christ? He asks his wise man, where is Christ going to be born? He says he's supposedly come from Nazareth.

So Herod sends his military out to kill every young male child under two years old.

And then there was another one.

And then there were people professing being messiahs.

And then Matthew 22 is about fake messiahs.

And so, like, this will be another fake messiah, in my opinion.

Sometimes it's saying something much deeper, and this is really important to understand as we read through the Gospel of Matthew because the Gospel of Matthew was the gospel written largely to a Jewish audience, in other words, people who knew their Old Testament very well.

And so Matthew's really fixated on showing how Jesus fulfills the Old Testament because his readers, the people who would've originally heard his gospel being read out loud, they wanted to know, "Hey, is Jesus actually the one that the Old Testament promised?" Matthew's saying very clearly, "Yes, He's the fulfillment of everything that the Old Testament points to." And to show you what Matthew means by fulfillment, that it's not just a prediction and then the prediction coming true, I want us to read a short passage in Matthew 2.

At this point in the story, Jesus is probably a few years old, and He's just been visited by a group of foreigners called the Magi.

These were people who came from a different land because they saw a star, and they followed the star, and they found Jesus, and they worshiped Him as the King, and they worshiped Him as God.

Hosea 11.1 is fulfilled, according to the New Testament, with Jesus out of Egypt I've called my son.

Yeah, there you go, Matthew 2.

That's a fascinating study.

Herod's response to Jesus' birth in Matthew 2, King Herod's response to the news of Jesus' birth is one of fear and hostility.

He deceitfully asked the Magi to report back to him, claiming he wishes to worship the newborn king.

However, his true intent is to kill Jesus.

John the Baptist's ministry was one of the preparation was one of preparation.

As He called people to repentance in anticipation of the Messiah's coming, Matthew 3, 1-3, Jesus Himself modeled perfect obedience to the Father as seen in John 5, 19, Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself unless He sees the Father doing it.

The parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25, 1-13 illustrates the necessity of spiritual preparation and readiness for the return of Christ.

The wise virgins who were prepared by bringing extra oil were rewarded for their foresight and readiness.

His prayer life, every morning, him and his wife, you know, are going through scripture.

He was actually in the gospel of Matthew 2 and we're preaching through Matthew.

And so we're talking about Matthew together.
