Did you see Elena Presby grilling Scott Besson at that Senate hearing? Man, that dude was dodging more bullets than one of her tenants.

[laughs] For those with short memories, uh, one of her, uh, one of her, her, uh, slum properties in Mattapan, a, uh, a 19-year-old girl was shot to death there.

And, uh, she said she knew nothing about it, and it wasn't her property anyway.

It belonged to her jailbird husband, the empowerment consultant who just got the $2 billion contract for the new courthouse in Springfield.

That's part of why I wrote the book the way I did, Matt, because I think that he was lost in all the, um, you know, tabloid and circus nonsense that, you know, became the Karen Read case.

And the family always said, "Why isn't it the John O'Keefe case? He's the one that lost his life." Became all about Karen Read, and Karen Read was framed, and if this can happen to her, what's gonna happen to the lady down the street or the, you know, the single mom in, in Mattapan? You know, the, the justice system is broken, and they're, you know, persecuting an innocent woman.

So it became all about that, and John O'Keefe and his life was kinda forgotten in all that.

So when I was writing this book, uh, you know, again, this is my eighth book, and I was a journalist for 20 years.

A massive celebration is happening in Mattapan today.

The Open Streets Boston event is going on right now.

It's transformed Blue Hill Avenue, River Street and Babson Street into a unique car-free boulevard for residents to enjoy.

MBTA are launching a series of community meetings beginning tonight where folks can get an up-close look at the updated design renderings for Blue Hill Ave.

It includes a full reconstruction of the roadway and sidewalks from Mattapan to Grove Hall, as well as the installation of a center-running bus lane.

Some of the feedback the city and MBTA will hear may sound something like this.

Yeah,

but if you do a city bus lane and then something messes up in the middle, then what happens? We're stuck.

So it doesn't work out for us, really.

The city wants to hear all of it at tonight's town hall at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Mattapan.

I think there's an issue, like I just said, of schools in tough parts of Boston not being as good as other parts of Boston.

But, you know, in my own family, we had kids in Mattapan.

In Mattapan, people would say maybe it's the tougher part of Boston.

They had a great principal and they had a great school.

So you can do it.

You know, you would love this, Kev.

He had a card group that started back when he was in his 20s, like all the guys from the old neighborhood in Mattapan.

And they got together.

It started every month and then it got to be every quarter, quarter, excuse me.

I'll disclose all of mine.

You know, it just occurs to me, you know, I wonder if he gave the idea of filing separate returns from his wife to Ayanna Pressley, who now claims, don't ask me about that mansion on Martha's Vineyard or that death house in Mattapan.

That belongs to my husband.

It doesn't belong to me.
