Matt Salter

If I had to, I would probably say Joe, simply because he used to cover rucks for me.

So him and Matt Salter would go and cover rucks so I didn't have to.

So we would have a play where we'd bang the 12 up.

Joe and Matt Salter would go and cover the ruck and then I could carry the ball around the corner.

So that gets him across the line.

Amazing.

I don't need to say too much about him.

And then my other guy there is a bit of a heartstrings puller here.

Um, this one less a, less a day, less an occasion, and more a, a, uh, how would I describe it? A, a reaction to heartbreaking loss.

Um, everyone involved in schools rugby will remember, uh, the tragic passing of, of Matt Salter, um, completely out of nowhere.

Director of rugby at Clifton College, and much loved, not just at Clifton College, but across the rugby spectrum, schools and beyond.

You know, a longstanding captain of Bristol Bears.

He was a legend in every sense.

He, he took over the, the running of the, um, Ryan Bresnahan Memorial Game, um, with absolutely bags of enthusiasm.

Ryan Bresnahan had passed away before Matt Salter was involved in Clifton College, and yet he took that on as if it was a tragedy that had happened while he was there.

Um, it's, he was an impressive man.
