Matt McCoy

You see that guy over there? Now, he's an actor.

The guy on the phone, he's a prize fighter.

Me, I'm a cab driver.

I'm the only cab driver in this place.

Reminder, we're doing these shows in broadcast order and not in order of filming.

Once again, Father Malone, I, I...

This is redundant, but we start in the garage, as we always start in the garage, as Jim starts talking to a guy who's reading at the poker table, the rather large, tall individual.

That's how he's listed in the credits as D.A. Ellis Lowe, like the whole his job title, District Attorney Ellis Lowe.

And Matt McCoy as Badge of Honor star Brett Chase.

So he's the... cop in the TV show.

We're watching this in conjunction with Season 6, Episode 11, Offensive Interference, because Val goes undercover as a prostitute.

God bless Jonesy.

And our spelling connection is Matt McCoy.

He was in an episode of Melrose Place.

Oh, cool.

And I'm Eric.

On today's show, we're celebrating our 200th episode with the great Matt McCoy.

Matt has appeared in a number of films and TV shows, including The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Silicon Valley, L.A.

Confidential, and Police Academy 5 and 6.

And, um, um, I, as I say, Andy Ackerman directed, who couldn't have been kinder and more wonderful, and really knew comedy.

Um, but Larry was very, very present, and, uh, I didn't have a whole lot of interaction.

I ran into him on a golf course a while back, and, uh, I had stuck my hand out and I said, "Larry, I'm Matt McCoy.

I played, uh, Lloyd Braun." He goes, "Hey," you know, he, he got very effusive and, uh, he, he kind of looked at me for a second and said, uh, "How are those residuals?"

Yeah.

But also, Matt McCoy, you know who he is?

Is he a football player?

Lloyd Braun.

But my favorite Lloyd Braun in the show is Lloyd Braun 1.

So it's interesting, right? But, yeah, I think Matt McCoy just – Matt McCoy is a great guy.

I mean, so is Peter Kelligan, obviously, too.

But I just really like Matt McCoy.

I think if I had to go on that route, I'd probably say him.

Who do we got coming up? We can tell.

I'd say 90% of my closet right now is all clothes from TV shows and films.

Well, we all know Lloyd Braun came back two seasons later with the character being played by Matt McCoy.

And I'll be honest with you, Peter, you know, some... characters that have been replaced by other actors i can see why they did it like george's dad or or jerry's dad you know it just didn't quite fit but i thought you absolutely knocked it out of the park in your episode so i i would love to know why you didn't come back i'm hoping it was just a scheduling conflict and they didn't want to go in another direction but i'd be i'm really curious as to as to why they didn't ask you to come back or why you didn't come back

I've told this story many times and it's one of the great regrets of my life.

And I don't remember exactly what the parameters were, but it was something like a week and a half, two weeks after the initial call.

and said, could Peter get a visa? And he said, no, sadly, it couldn't happen.

And yeah, to this day, I cannot watch a Matt McCoy episode.

It makes me too sad.
