Matt Lindland

I'm not sure who I most resemble, but aside from my coach, I'll name two coaches that I did some training with that I really embraced their approach to how I do things.

One is Matt Lindland.

Some people might know him from his MMA career, but he's an Olympic-level wrestler.

He is the Olympic Greco-Roman coach now for the United States.

You know Frankie "The Answer" Edgar? I c- I coached him in college at Clarion.

You know, Matt Lindland was my teammate at Nebraska.

I went to Oklahoma State for four and a half years.

NCAA says, "Hey, you guys did something wrong.

But let me backtrack.

The first coach who ever made this connection come into my head was Matt Lindland.

I got a, I had the opportunity to train a couple times with, with Matt and in, in Greco stuff.

And then, 'cause I was not a Greco guy.

Okay.

Matt Lindland won silver in 2000.

He fought for the middleweight title.

He was 8-3 in the UFC.

I just wanted to go and train my jujitsu and get better, go from a white to a blue, a blue to a purple, and they wouldn't stop asking me questions or for a meal plan or for a diet or for weight cutting, and that's where that leg of the business kicked in.

And then I'm at a, a fight on the West Coast, and I meet Randy Couture, Robert Follis, Matt Lindland, Dan Henderson, legends now at the elite level of sport.

We had a good friendship.

They invited me out to their gym, Portland, Oregon, Team Quest, and then they offered me the head strength coach job there.

So the point I'm trying to make is, on the one hand, I think there's an issue of we don't have quite the same quality of wrestlers.

I mean, in that Couture fight, it's Randy Couture, who was a two-time Olympic alternate, Matt Lindland, who was an Olympic silver medalist, and then Dan Henderson, a two-time Olympic team member.

Like the, I mean, like and then you're talking about, oh, Jon Jones is in Gable's corner.

I'm like, okay, well Gable had the gold, but like just look at the depth there.
