And we've seen that on the basketball side of things too.

Coaches that have a pedigree like Roy Williams do better than coaches without a pedigree like Matt Doherty.

So because they can, you know, point up in the rafters and say, hey, you know, that banner up there, I had something to do with.

Well, Belichick has got some banners if you want to treat them that way.

I've been remiss this whole hour breaking down the stuff that we were talking about, so I wanted to throw this out there.

He's back, and we're going to talk about a couple of different things, what he's doing and what we're doing and all this great stuff.

As I said, Coach Matt Doherty is going to be joining with us, and we're going to have a little conversation on a couple of different sort of topics, number one.

Number two, I'm also looking to see – What is going to be the next shoe that is going to drop? And why I say this is apparently there are people who are in the administration who you kind of like, you kind of root for, you kind of do things like that.

Talking about connection, all the coaches have had connection to him since Dean Smith stepped down in 97.

Bill Guthridge, Matt Doherty, Roy Williams, Hubert Davis.

Michael Malone is a vast departure from that family.

He spent the last 25 years, essentially, coaching in the NBA.

He played for John McCloud, was recruited by him.

He played for Matt Doherty and was the Big East Player of the Year.

And then Matt left, and now he's got me, and he's looking at, wait a minute, this guy could possibly screw up me being a lottery pick and the Big East Player of the Year again.

And I don't blame him.

So, um, it's just, as, as a reporter, uh, as long as you're paying attention, you can get a lot of good information, and it's not just what the coaches say, but how they say it, and kind of watching how their interactions go, and you can pick up a lot of stuff by, by doing that.

Yeah, I mean, I remember Matt Doherty bitching about having to be there and having to do it.

Um, and it was like-

He's not the only one [laughs].

And I don't think when they, you know, when they looked at the addition, the couple of additions they had inside in particular, uh, I don't think they expected to be finishing at 245 against twos.

The other thing that hurt, and maybe at the margins, but I do think it matters, they, as usual for Matt Painter teams, They had a very efficient offense, but one pretty serious limitation they had is they never got to the foul line.

They were number three 36 and offensive free throw rate.

That's about as bad as it can get.

Uh, and there are not a lot of new faces and they're going to be familiar faces that are in different roles.

So it's going to be a different kind of team, but I do think, you know, you mentioned I'm picking them fifth.

Some of that admittedly is respect for Matt painter and what he's built, but some of it is that they actually do have, if you really look at it, they've got talent on this team.

I mean, they're not short of talent.

James Worthy was on that team, you know.
