And we went away, because we used to play our games on a Saturday morning.

And we lost the fourth game of the season to Spratton, who were being coached at that time by Matt Dawson.

who was also at Northampton Saints, but obviously a young buck.

And we all know Matt Dawson probably had a lot to say for himself.

So I'm assuming during the week in training, there were some conversations about the fact that this fixture was coming up.

And I'm assuming John Oliver, who did not like to take a backward step with anything, obviously said, I've got a group of lads here.

Uh, five minutes.

I did an interview with Matt Dawson live on 5 Live, and he said, "What, what's next?" And I said, "Well, how do, how do I top that? How do I ever?" That was the defining moment in my career as a sports personality in this country-

... as a, as a cyclist, you know, the f- first man to win the Tour de France and the Olympics in the same year.

curiosity I can't recall I don't know I mean I know that it was the highest transfer fee ever paid for the only reason that it was the first it could have been a fiver and a packet of twiglets I don't know but it was definitely a fee paid so I had five good years at Wasps and then obviously moved on to join the Mighty Munster

Well, I'm going to stay with Walsh for a minute because I think you would have crossed paths with Delalio, Simon Shaw, maybe Matt Dawson or Andy Gummer.

So I can't remember who the nine was.

Probably Alex King, Josh Lucy.

I guess it's a thing you can hit in any sort of area of TV.

It's like when BBC tried to sort of evolve Question of Sport once they decided they didn't want Sue Barker and Phil Tuffman or Matt Dawson to stay anymore, even though they weren't looking to leave, and then changed it completely and made it a lot worse, and it survived for two more seasons after that, and then they ended up axing it.

So, yeah, it's, again, a thing of TV overarching where they feel like, oh, like with georgie thompson leaving premier league years we need to change everything now it's just like no you uh it's it's yeah you don't need to get rid of something it's really good i mean it's it's the conversation we're having with match of the day so every summer now see gary lineker left last year and all the talk was are they going to change it wholeheartedly and they didn't and it worked perfectly like we've got just three

but that's the thing you don't need to change it wasn't the issue
