Cuba, Fidel didn't want, you know, people coming, you know, Cuban going back to Cuba.

So it was a process where he thought that he was going to the evangelical seminary of Matanzas to teach.

So that didn't happen.

He was in limbo in a way, waiting.

And we can move forward with the conception that no, missions is still very important for the Christian movement, for the Christian religion.

The Christian religion is a missionary religion because it self perpetuates through cross-cultural encounters.

So when you see Justo González, you can see his trajectory, and especially when he became a master's student at the Evangelical Seminary in Matanzas.

That was 1957.

That laid the basis for the fall of apartheid.

And Mandela actually said when he came to Cuba, he came to Matanzas in July 1991.

And Cuba was the first country outside of Africa that Mandela visited upon being released from prison.

In eighteen twenty-five, thousands of enslaved Africans across the plantations of Matanzas province revolted in what became one of Cuba's largest rural slave uprisings.

Many participants were African-born, bringing military traditions and organizational experience from the societies they had been violently taken from.

Then in eighteen forty-three, another rebellion spread on the Triunvirato sugar plantation.

Rumba is heavily percussion and vocal driven.

It was born in the streets and docks of Havana and Matanzas.

His involvement in the 26th of July Movement, which he later represented as anti-communist, is contradicted by the movement's own history as a socialist revolutionary organization.
