Mastery Charter Schools

Or can we actually do the work to figure out, can these Renaissance schools take over an existing building and transform it wholesale? And so we were lucky enough in New Jersey that we had some amazing school partners.

This was KIPP from Newark, Uncommon from Newark, and Mastery Charter Schools from across the river in Philadelphia, and all of them were willing and had the ability to sort of do whole school turnarounds.

And so we actually took a bunch of traditional district schools that were most under-enrolled, had been most chronically struggling to perform academically, and where there was real community demand and parents saying, "We would want something different," and said, "We're gonna give you Uncommon, this facility.

You're gonna take every student in that building, you're gonna transform outcomes." So it was really the district-initiated sort of hors- whole school turnarounds, and then we were basically the authorizer, and they ran great schools and did, have done great things for kids.
