Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary

This is the lawsuit filed by an East Hampton man.

His lawyers argue drug makers of these GLP-1s were aware of the risk of blindness thanks to a study released by researchers at Mass Eye and Ear here in Boston more than two years ago, but it's not listed as a potential side effect.

My vision's just not as what it was.

Diane Worth says she struggles with chores these days.

... uh, experience.

And I had this great, um, doctor, Dr. Walton at Mass Eye and Ear, uh, who apparently I wasn't very nice to at the time.

Um, I'm sure he's passed now, so rest in peace, Dr. Walton.

Mm.

Let's turn to your governance roles, because I think this is an interesting area, and particularly for the Carol Met Foundation, a concern and a focus for us.

You've served as a member of the Harvard Board of Overseers, the MIT Corporation, the Defense Health Board, Ascension Health, as well as the board of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.

So these are all important roles and quite diverse within themselves.

Talk about, if you would, how important is it for women and particularly women of color to seek these kinds of roles because that's really above and beyond all the other demands that you have.

There's a 2024 study.

It was done at Mass Eye and Ear, right down the street from where my office was.

Um, and it was, I mean, legitimate.

It was a three-year study and it was among di- patients with diabetes.

But I remember after, because I was recovering at my parents' house for a few months, I went back to Boston.

I actually moved to Boston to try and find help at Mass Eye and Ear, thinking they were the best.

It ended up being, my surgeon was in New Jersey, but it just ended up being that way.

I remember coming back, going to my job and being at my computer and my eyes used to roll in the back of my head.

And he's right.

And I now feel the exact same way because I am now incredibly thankful for my new friends at Mass Eye and Ear, where I will be this week.

The original treatment plan for me was going to be having a full-fledged surgery the first week of August.

I thought my August was about to be wiped out.

And then I had the amazing opportunity to further explore this direction in Sunil Puria's autobiomechanics lab at the E10P Body Laboratories.

at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary as a visiting graduate student at Harvard Med School.

Very cool.

That's a nice little, you know, path to where you ended up.
