Masamichi Amano

It was written as an exercise for the fingers, yet its melody is so beautiful that Chopin himself is said to have sighed, I shall never write a melody as beautiful as this again.

today that melody comes to you not on the piano but from a barituba quartet arranged by masamichi amano the deep mellow sound wraps chopin's song in a quiet warmth a tristesse quite unlike the piano and tender in a way all its own quietly a farewell that touches the heart.

On the anniversary of Chopin's death, we bring you Tristesse for low brass quartet.
