Now let's begin this investigation and show the entire world how incredible this research really is.

Beginning with the supposed oldest United States State Capitol, the Maryland State Capitol building.

which is located in Annapolis, Maryland, built in 1797, we are told.

And when we go over to their master list for the National Archives, we see Annapolis, Maryland, but we do not see their state capital listed.

Welcome to Season 15 of American Political History, A Failed Nation, A Convention of States.

On September 11, 1786, in the Senate Chamber of the Maryland State House at Annapolis, a convention assembled to rescue the commerce of the United States.

Twelve men showed up.

Twelve from five states.

George Washington was the commander of the Continental Army and probably the most beloved man on the continent.

And he walks into the Maryland State House in Annapolis, where Congress is meeting, to do something almost nobody in history had done voluntarily.

He gives the army back.
