Mary MacGregor

But now let's go ahead and discuss the characters that we see in The Suspect in the Smoke.

So first up is Mary McGregor.

Bess calls her Mrs. McG at points, but she's over the senior citizen classes at the rec center.

Nikos Manalatos, which I hope I'm pronouncing that right because I think that's a Greek last name, but he was a manager over some of the funds for the rec center.

But as the fundraising proceeds, Nancy begins to suspect that the entire plan is at risk.

She's convinced that the fire was deliberately set and that the arsonist now wants to wreck the rec center for good.

Mary McGregor, who has worked hard to keep the rec center alive, has received a series of threats warning her to keep off the project.

Like Nancy, though, she refuses to back down.
