Mary Bateman

All right.

I am going to be talking about a woman named Mary Bateman, also known as the Yorkshire Witch.

And actually, it's my grandpa was born in Yorkshire, so he might have actually known some of the lore.

But this is from 1768. is when she was born and died in 1809.

However, they left Leeds, came back to Leeds, and this is where she found someone named Joanna Southcott, who actually was another doomsday prediction machine.

So Joanna Southcott was a self-titled prophetess, attended these different meetings.

They were known as the Southcottian sects, which they created the hoax, and specifically Mary Bateman created the hoax that is known as the Prophet Hen of Leeds, or Prophet Chicken of Leeds, depending on who's saying it.

Right.
