MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls with Sony Interactive Entertainment's Reed Baird and Marvel Games' Michael Francisco

right and i and i totally like second read it's like i love the the old tag fighters where like they're separate health bars but at a certain point what arxis is designing for is the snowball effect like once you're down to the last character it's pretty insurmountable i mean i think you know old old fighting game heads would remember like you know you had the captain commando just as an assist, but he wasn't a good character.
M
59:33Michael FranciscoGUEST
So you'd have two top tiers, and this is an MVC2.
M
59:37Michael FranciscoGUEST
And then if you were left with Captain Commando, it was actually good etiquette to quit because he just was that bad of a character.
M
59:46Michael FranciscoGUEST
You might as well quit, and it was respectful to do so.

I think what you said about having less characters and doing more stuff with them is very apt, because think about fighting games, especially of this time, right? Games that had...
A
12:17AndreHOST
I don't know, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has like 56 characters and they're all animated like shit because that's the only way you can fit 56 characters into a game.
A
12:28AndreHOST
Then you go back to previous Capcom games like X-Men Children of the Atom or Marvel Super Heroes where they're animated as fuck because they only have like 10 characters 12 characters max right but then when you fit when you have all these characters it's like okay you have to do less and less and we're gonna see that when we get to king of fighters they have so many characters that they can't do as much with them as like an art of fighting or something so it's always like a a push and pull right and i'm not saying one approach is better than the other but i do appreciate games that have less characters and they really pimp them out Yeah.

Marvel 2, you had to do a quarter circle...
G

Actually, it was from forward to down, I think, or was it from back to down? I think it was back, quarter circle back to down was the way you did alpha counter.
