There was something I learned early on from Ron Heifetz and Marty Linsky.

They have the adaptive leadership model, which I found, I don't know, 20-some years ago and has just been kind of haunting me and with me since.

But one of the things that they said was, find ways to manage your hungers.

Yep.

It's the Leadership on the Line.

It's a book, Leadership on the Line, Staying Alive in the Dangers of Leadership by Ron Heifetz and Marty Linsky.

And the spoiler alert, the four dangers of leadership are being marginalized, seduced, diverted, and attacked.

And this was something that I learned through a course with Dr. Ron Heifetz.

who with Marty Linsky coined that phrase of adaptive leadership.

And what I have seen time and time again using that lens is one of the biggest mistakes leaders make is applying technical solutions to problems that are adaptive.

And so what do I mean by adaptive versus technical in the first place? When you're looking at a problem, a technical problem is something where there's a clear problem And there's a clear solution.
