Martinez

It's a sunny day here.

I just recently moved to Martinez, California, which is in the Bay Area.

I grew up in the Bay and have moved around various parts throughout my life.

But Martinez is very warm, very sunny.

Getting settled into the new house and stuff.

Nice.

that part,

you know, you know I can't say that I lost my childhood in that space because I didn't have to work for the fields you know I have people my age that had to go to school and then go work the fields or take on even more adult things of helping the family and so I think you know and again I grew up in Martinez so it's not like I grew up in Central Valley you know but at

the time you don't know right that's your reality It doesn't make it any less or any more.

Right, exactly.

My reality was a different reality of marginalization in a different way, right? From someone in the Central Valley, like my husband.

My husband grew up in the Central Valley.

He very much so had the Central Valley perspective, right? Versus me growing up here in Contra Costa, living in Martinez and having that perspective.

But what we all have is beyond taking on very adult roles, being ambassadors and those translators for our parents.

Yeah.

at our church, which was then about 150 member church that met in Martinez, California.

It has since grown and become New Destiny and really grown so much from there.

But at that point, it was a very small church that met at a business park in Martinez, California.

And Rufus said, 847. seven hour drive in Martinez, California.

And Rufus said, yo, I'm not going to Santa Clara anymore.

You know, I need to tap into this next thing and not, not realizing and fully understanding at the time that, that saying, yes, not to sit under the pastor.
