Martin Sweeney

Yeah, there are so many questions here about judgment, and we've been talking about a land bridge for at least a decade, right? Like, remember at first it was gonna be, like, this ribbon bridge, and then they're like, "Wait, we can actually make it land and make it more usable, and that would be a better idea." So if you had an issue with that, maybe the time was to bring it up a decade ago, not when we are actually close to finally seeing it happen.

And so Marty Sweeney, who I don't always agree with, but I thought he had a smart thing to say.

He said the most frustrating and irritating thing about this is the lack of respect the county executive had for this council.

There is a plan that has been talked about, designs made, pricing occurred, and not one thing communicated to myself or council members.

I think the way AI is moving, it'll be the way people do this.

And this was the last, I believe, of m-Councilman Marty Sweeney's ARPA funds.

This is that bigger, this pot of money that we have found so controversial over the years.

The slush funds.

That upsets me so much.

Uh, you know, was this really the best use of, of scarce one-time federal money, or did we essentially just give elected officials publicly funded checkbooks that could later double as their list of political accomplishments? I think that the answer to that is pretty clear.

But, but Marty Sweeney was hanging on to these last dollars to kind of make a splash with them, I think, and this is how he's doing it.
