Martin Richards

I worked in the morning and then I'd train every afternoon.

So I found a coach who was coaching a lot of the good kids or good players in Adelaide, a guy called Marty Richards.

Marty was a bit of a legend in Adelaide, top player.

Still today, I believe, he still wins.

So while we're trying to work on this forehand that was rubbish, we had to go to plans where I'd have to hit off backhands, which I always hit pretty well.

And so I was temporarily at least running around and hitting off backhands, which is super unusual.

inspirational lifestyle to me I thought that was really great and then uh Marty Richards towards the end for that year um you know I think Marty just taught me that it takes takes hard work to become that next level all right so um you know that's I you know you think about your coaches years years later I think about my my private coaches that I've had and you you you can't underestimate the influence they have on you now the influence they have on you might just be continue to play tennis.

I mean, I liked footy, I liked cricket, I used to love bowling leg spin, that always clashed with tennis.
