How did you get called up to the Tullagh in the first place?

Well, I suppose it w- pe- people have, I suppose, would have known Martin Hayes, obviously, 'cause we grew up together, and, and PJ, and I would've been playing with all the, you know.

You'd be known, like, so there weren't that many flute players, you see.

There was only a handful of us around, you know.

That was Irish-American folk group The Gloaming and a piece called Bully House featuring the fiddle playing of Martin Hayes.

That was from their 2016 soft title CD.

Prior to that, from Portland, Oregon, Caleb Clowder.

You know, out to Slieve Ateen Mountains, and Peadar Hayes, and, and more people like that, Peadar Hayes and Paddy Kenny, and you, you know, you know, uh, uh, uh, um, um, all them lads, all them lads that, that, that kept our music going.

And Martin Hayes.

And would you ask, ask him this morning if they can to play two reels, uh, [clears throat] Joe Byrne's and The Green Growen Lest, a great favorite of Martin Hayes, one of the finest fiddle players of all time.

Right.

Yeah.

Yeah, yeah, it's really incredible.

Actually, I've only been once, but I went and saw Martin Hayes play play there once and it was just it was epic yeah it's such a beautiful venue yeah it's an amazing space to uh yeah to watch music in and to see it so when's that show

that'll be our first that'll be our biggest show uh today at the september 12th okay amazing yeah

okay well i'll be sure to put a link for people because this will be out before then great so people can go see that show great And then if they're in London or Paris, they can see you at those shows as well.

And they had a show there for The Fla.

I think Martin Hayes played there.

And it was meant to be amazing.

I couldn't go because my mother had given out my bedroom.

There was so much Irish music, Irish language.

Martin Hayes was doing great stuff, his first album live in Seattle.

Sharon Shannon from West Clare, that first album recorded in Kinbarra.

It was an exciting time.

Yeah, yeah, of course, yeah

... of course, but it's a, an unbelievable film with beautiful music by Martin Hayes, uh, incredible direction that kinda weaves this visual between the weave of the wool into the sea that's hitting the island.

Nice, yeah.

Ah, they're just amazing.

Uh, we've just come back actually, my partner and myself, from, uh, Masters of Tradition, uh, Festival, which Martin Hayes curates down in Bantry, and he's still surprising us with the, with the, the, the skills, the imagination.

I mean, The Gloaming has been around for a while.

They haven't...

... creative output at all.

Yeah, well, I, I think the, the one thing that you would have to say [laughs] is that there's certainly, uh, where the trad crowd are involved, there's no one going around within the ears of graces.

Like, there's, there's people would pay an awful lot of money to see Martin Hayes-

... perform in a concert.

Join in, no problem." So I went in anyway, and the place was packed, and, uh, there was some Americans at home were visiting in Tulla and someone said they were looking for music and, uh, someone in Tulla told them to go around, go around to the Black Stakes.

There's a session on there.

So they came in the door anyway, and they all looked in and there was Martin Hayes playing [laughs] inside the pub.

And they said they were as, they were in New York at, at some concert-
