So Rossi was already quite willing to, I suppose, weaponize things that he's hearing in the media.

You know, we all know he's a big fan of Martin Devlin and he watches the show.

He said it over and over again.

He's listening and he's watching and he's thinking, how can I use that to my advantage? And he did that really well and goes, OK, well, I've got this guy who can talk about it.

Oh yes, it's one of those years that just keeps on giving.

Well, Martin Devlin is away, and to cover the absence of his considerable intellect actually takes three people, although I would question that about a bloke who loses his passport in the United States.

It's been a long time between, but I, you weren't here the other week, but we were fresh off South Africa's, one of the matches, and then we get this message saying, hey, Marty's going to jump on with you guys.

And so that's – I'm going to talk just to chat about the goal.

I watched a podcast with Watto, Martin Devlin, and the chap, Day, who does a bit of announcing.

They talked about the All Blacks, about the players that went away, how they ranked them, the expectation.

And it was quite good.

They all just, they all just whinging.

They're like, "Dave Rennie, we were one or two moments away," and like, yeah, no, Martin Devlin, who I really adore and I, and, you know, we got to meet him in s- in, in South Africa and his show and h- and, like, his show of pre this test when he said eight reasons why the All Blacks aren't number one, and he gave it and he's like, " 'Cause they're not number one because the Boks are number one." And he said, like, "Forget the cheerleading New Zealand and let's go back to, like, proper analysis." And, you know, they, they've dropped three in a row now and I think they, the Dave Rennie honeymoon is over in the sense that just accept where we are and what we gotta do as a few New Zealander.

But my goodness, the grudging, the grudging respect from New Zealand for South Africa is so grudging.

Like, "Oh, mate, okay, you did us, mate.

Um, I actually found out about the 9/11 attacks from you, uh, way back in 2001.

I woke up in the morning, flicked on Radio Sport, uh, and it was, um, a very somber Martin Devlin informing, uh, the nation at the time of what had happened, uh, in New York, or what was happening, uh, on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States.

This was an area where it all sort of went down.

We've just been in Washington, D.C., where of course one of the planes crashed into the Pentagon, so a very poignant time here, uh, in the United States and, uh, expecting all sporting events across the weekend to be marked, uh, with, uh-

But I, I do wanna draw attention to, you know, there's gamesmanship and there's sportsmanship, but I think we've been treated to three weeks as well, 99% of people being very gracious.

Um, I'm watching Martin Devlin's output.

I'm watching, um, you know, all of the Kiwi guys are coming over.

They're enjoying the hospitality, or they have been enjoying the hospitality of South Africa, soaking up the atmosphere.

it wakes you up in the morning.

It makes you remember things.

Martin Devlin talking about his dad and him, you know, getting up early and, like, brewing the, the coffee and, and, and, and watching.

Um, um, MV and I remember the same stuff, the weird time zones, the flower bombs, all this.
