Just had a new edition that came out.

As well as The Disappearers by Marlon James, which is on everybody's list.

The True, True Story of Raja the Gullible and His Mother by Rabi Alamuddin, which just came out in paperback.

And the memoir I Deliver Parcels in Beijing by Hu Anyan.

So those are bestsellers, paperbacks, books that you should mark down because books are awesome.

And I want to briefly mention that the Booker Prize shortlist has been announced.

It's down to six books, including the one I just mentioned, May We Feed the King by Rebecca Perry, and The Disappears by Marlon James, as well as The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout, The End of Everything by M. John Harrison, Black Bag by Luke Kennard, and John of John by Douglas Stewart.

So I think I had read more of the books that had been taken off the list.

And this is, it's such an interesting comparison that you're making because, speaking of Miwa, I texted her and said, we need to start asking writer, or I said, can we put a moratorium on books over 400 pages? And...

I read Understory right into The Disappearers by Marlon James, right into, and I was about to start American Hug One when I texted her.

And so then I texted her literally yesterday because I didn't want the book to end.

And I said, Miwa, I take it back.

All right, so let's talk about what I'm currently reading.

On Friday, I picked up my copy of The Disappears by Marlon James.

I'm going to have to take my time with this one.

I can tell from the first few chapters.

You're doing great so far.

Marlon James is carrying all of my water.

I think at this point, the only shot that any of us have to beat you is if Louise Erdrich wins the Nobel, and I just get to take it in one go.

Mm-hmm.

Um, you have an interesting note here, which I hadn't, I hadn't thir- I hadn't thought about.

Marlon James is on the, the shortlist here, as is, uh, Douglas Stuart for "John of Johns." If either of them win, they would join four other authors who have achieved this: JM Coetzee, Peter Carey, Hilary Mantel, and Margaret Atwood.

Coetzee has a Nobel.

You can be doing something for, you know, knowing that you'll be recorded, but there can be something like very real that's sort of underneath that, you know? Like I'm thinking specifically my friend Halo, who was the voice of Happy Birthday on the first record.

They sensed that record have been taking hormones and their voice sounds very different.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I have a similar, well, I know it didn't happen, but I have a similar thing where my, my mom used to have a friend when we were really young, who was a singer.

And as a child, I believed she was Kate Bush, but she wasn't, she wasn't at all.

And when they're not making movie magic, it turns out Josh and Anne are still taking a page from each other's books.

Do you know who Marlon James is? He wrote a book called The History of Seven Killings.

There's a follow-up that I just picked up, and I haven't really started reading it yet, but I just picked it up, and I'm excited to read it because everybody says it's a genius book, but I know nothing about it yet.
