Brad Pitt is standing there, what the fuck?" Well, I'll say no more, but that's the kind of humor that if you get it, it's great, and if you don't, you're like, "Well, maybe you should watch the movie." One of the ways, though, that Fight Club succeeds just as a film is the casting, and there are films that kind of sink or swim on just how clever the filmmakers, you know, presumably working with a casting director, what they were able to come up with.

But casting Helena Bonham Carter as Marla, I, I mean, I...

It's next level.
Jeremy CohenHOST

It's next level brilliant, because I gotta tell you, that's not who I would have ever seen in that role.

Um, but there were a couple of lines, I don't know if either of these lines were in the book, but when her character gets with Brad Pitt's character, it's a weird sequence of events that take place, and if you're watching the film for the first time, you're gonna get uncomfortable, not necessarily because of the dialogue, some of which is very uncomfortable, but the fact that it, it doesn't, it doesn't quite land.

The way that Edward Norton says, "I noticed that Tyler and Marla were never in the same room at the same time.

That's a trick my parents mastered for decades." I mean, that's a funny line, but the more you think about it, if you watch the film and then you go back and say, "Ah, this is an aha movie." There are a lot of clues throughout the film with the surrealist elements that are actually not surrealist elements.

No, definitely not.

Except for maybe Marla.

72:10
Um, but she's in, like, these soft colors, right? Like the bridesmaid's dress, which she offers Edward Norton to try on, and he says no.

But it's, it's a fraught moment.

Best supporting character goes to the supporting character that this movie should actually be about or who we wanna see a spinoff sequel.
