Marla Gibbs

So when I went to the acting class at junior college, it was Long Beach City Junior College.

So I said, "Okay, I'm getting some pretty good notices here, so let me go, let me go into Holly- closer into Hollywood and see if, you know, see if I, you know, if they think I got it." Marla Gibbs, who, uh, was the, who was on Two, Two, Seven.

Two, Two, Seven.

Mm-hmm.

But there was a commercial for the show.

It was like, "227 is a comedy with Marla Gibbs and her family."

[laughs]

[laughs] So any time I hear 227, my brain finishes that little, uh, stanza.

It's, uh...

So I mean, it sticks with you, so you know, good job creators of 227.

I think Marla Gibbs was one of the creators actually.

Oh, yeah.

Wow.

I paid for Marla Gibbs.

Oh, for sure.

Oh, I contri- I contributed to Marla Gibbs too.

Mm-hmm.

So people-

We'll address the elephant in the room just to get it out of the way.

Marla Gibbs as, you know, Mrs. Reed, Jefferson Reed's mother.

Jefferson Reed played by Robert Townsend.

Now, I did wonder how come he doesn't have your traditional, like, you know double letter uh alias right like a like a jefferson you know johnson or jones or you know like the jj and so apparently um robert johnson named that character after one of his uh childhood superheroes his teacher and i think that also explains like the um occupation here of one jefferson aka jeff reed uh we got sid bad playing malik or bernard which who With his first black girlfriend.

Like, it was so many.

It was, but I would have to say one of my favorite was Marla Gibbs and Snoop Dogg.

Oh.

Marla because she is my, you know, self-proclaimed, but she is, I love her so much.

Ryan drafted 227th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2002 entry draft when he was drafted 227 overall.

I said, oh, my God, that's my favorite show, starring Marla Gibbs and Jack A. Harry.

So I guess all things worked out there.

But let's stick on the NHL.

All these people, these comics that we know that are famous now, they all come up under Robin Harris in Leimert Park, Maverick's Flat.

You know what I mean? This is an area, total experience, Fifth Street Dicks, Marla Gibbs.

You know what I mean? Black cultural hub.

And it's still a cultural hub now.
