I'll just mention one other connection, which is Louisiana, that after I had worked for Doggett, I went to work for Mark White and lost that campaign.

And this is where I discovered, when White hired me, I discovered you could, fail upward in politics.

But then I didn't know what the hell I was going to do.

Misty Spears, Mark White, Grant Moody were at a presser for him about emissions testing here in Texas.

And so they've gotten some that they've been working hand in hand with Governor Abbott to work with the EPA.

to reanalyze the emission testing standard that is supposed to be happening November 1st.

Hmm.

I'd like to know how the governor has, quote, destroyed a public school system that was failing terribly since the end of the 1970s so badly that Democrats under Governor Mark White, that was in the early 80s, started the high-stakes testing that's so complained about.

Sounds like too much teachers union propaganda has been absorbed from AFT and TSTA, both leftist unions, anyway.

Oh, and here's one that's just, you can repeat the story every time.

And then in the next race, they, uh, they vote Democrat.

They vote for Mark White for attorney general, who would go on in '82 to beat Bill Clements and be the governor.

And I would argue, my favorite Democrat of all time, that Mark White was a good governor.

I wish he was alive because he'd be listening and he'd go, "Oh, Michael's talking nice about me again." Uh, his family and my family are buried in the same place in, in, uh, up in the, the Tyler area.

I think he was the best Democrat, last good Democrat we had, um, in, in statewide politics in Texas.

I, I do, uh, very firmly believe that.

But during that race, here's the point of this whole story.

During that race, Mark White was losing because Bill Clements was beating Dolph Briscoe.
