And over the years, I was drawn to this banana peeled cover and put it on and kind of like parts of it but was kind of spooked by it like the the glass breaking and was it is that european sun is that what it is that but i don't think it's a young person should crack it so but at some point obviously it became so important to you so do you remember like when that happened and what maybe made it happen

Right now, you know, I'm not sure because I did like an event for the book, a public event the other day.

And as I was talking, I realized that maybe my chronology of the story that I've been telling might be metal.

But the reason I heard them so young was, I don't know if I was 12 or 13, but it was through discovering David Bowie, who was the first like serious music that I got interested in as a teenager.

You know, you stop listening to the charts and you find something that is yours.

David Bowie was the person I discovered.

And so through him talking about his influences, I found the Velvet Underground, bought the first album and didn't understand it.

Have you ever met anyone in the Warhol world in person?

There's a lot of credibility-

Yeah.

Uh, sort of Hugh Rocksy music albums, Bryan Ferry solo, Wings Over America, John Cale, Paris 1919.

And then more recently, before working with us, he did, like, those really successful Elton John records in the '80s, like I'm Still Standing and all that stuff, and Kick by INXS I guess was his biggest success.

So it was kind of amazing for us slightly inept musicians [laughs] to be working with this guy.

Yeah, and he started...

Like, he was a tea boy at Abbey Road around the time when they were recording the White Album.

[laughs] We literally couldn't see you for about 40 minutes.
