The Mongoose marks the directorial debut of Mark Van Slow.

He's no stranger to Nielsen.

Van Slow worked with the Irish actor as a stunt double and stunt coordinator since 1998.

But what it does have is a first time director in Mark Vanslow, who is a longtime stunt coordinator.

And, you know, you wonder sometimes why do they go in that direction? Well, in this case, it's because Neeson's character, who is Ryan Flanagan, who goes by the handle.

is in the car the pretty much the entire time and it's a souped up shelby uh cobra uh racer uh and there are some really fun and some great uh excuse me it's a shelby mustang super snake i you know you gotta you gotta learn the cars uh there are a lot of fun great racing scenes in here um a lot of great um chases and getaways a lot of great stunt driving and that is really kind of the visual appeal and the fun here the story essentially he's a former decorated special services special forces soldier who is as we pick up on the run uh from the police he's being chased by state troopers uh for a crime he committed and it doesn't seem in keeping with character he's had some things go awry in his life mercy tomei plays his ex-wife with whom he still has Quite a dynamic relationship.
