Mark McManus

And he took their family name, but he was never adopted by them.

The McManuses were the family of Mark McManus of Taggart.

So he is sort of Taggart's brother, but not biologically.

That's amazing.

The impact off the bench though for the county champions proved crucial.

Jamie Ryan didn't start but came on after 40 minutes and Julie scored 5 points, while Mark McManus also came in to hit 1-1.

On a day when they also lost, the services of Shane Morgan and Anthony Burns, while Cullen Killian didn't start.

Cashel battled bravely with their 14 men, but would probably rue not being more ahead at the interval after having use of the strong wind in that opening half.

But from there to the finish, the county champions put down their foot.

Points for McManus and Jamie Ryan had Loughrae 1.18 to 1.15 up on 26 minutes before Dean Higgins got Castlegare's first point in a 17 minute scoreless spell to leave 2 points in it.

From there to the finish, though, was about Loughrae, with Mark McManus getting their second goal, two minutes into injury time, to put them six ahead.

And though Gerard Farher came with a late goal for Castelgar, it was a case of too little on the day, as Loughrae held on to a 2-21 to 2-17 victory.
