The author is Mark Kurlansky, K-U-R-L-A-N-S-K-Y, if it's something that you're interested in.

But a lot of people were like, oh, I read this in high school.

I read this early in college.

They kept the location of their Grand Bank fishery a carefully guarded secret.

Journalist Mark Kurlansky, in his book, Cod: A Biography of the Fish That Changed the World, proposes that Basque fishermen may have landed in Labrador or Newfoundland years before Columbus arrived in the Americas.

They returned to Europe with dried cod, but you can't dry cod on the deck of a ship, so they had to have dried it on land somewhere, but they never revealed their secret.

The establishment of the Basque Red Bay whaling station in Labrador in fifteen thirty lends credibility to this theory.

Because the church had this long list of things that you couldn't eat on holy days, and holy days were about Half the year

Mark Kurlansky wrote the book Milk: A 10,000 Year Food Fracas.

He told us that Catholics weren't allowed to consume any kind of animal product on holy days.

So no meat of course, but also no animal milk

Amazing.

Um, I hope they all succeed, and I think that that type of innovation only creates amazing, um, products for people to buy that create the change that we wanna see.
