I have to acknowledge this by our guy, 895Juice.
Jeremy WahmanHOST
9:40
Mark Ivey's tweet, gotta love it, with a picture of the score after the win.
Jeremy WahmanHOST
9:45
I'm not going to read the last part of that.
Jeremy WahmanHOST
9:48
And again, you all know I've got to protect my connections and my reputation, but we could have done without that tweet.
Jeremy WahmanHOST
9:57
That tweet didn't need to be posted.
Sean BarberHOST
10:01
I like Mark Ivey.
Sean BarberHOST
10:02
I love him.
Jeremy WahmanHOST
10:02
I love Mark Ivey.
Dalton PenceHOST

Overall, you have a first-time play caller defensive coordinator.
Dalton PenceHOST
15:30
A really respected position coach in Mark Ivey, who was with the program since the Scott Satterfield era, the only coach left from the Satterfield era, stayed on with Jeff Brohm, and the players love him.
Dalton PenceHOST
15:41
I mean, he is a player's coach, really energetic, passionate coach that, I mean, you can see him before games just, I mean, going crazy and screaming in the pregame huddles, and that's the energy that he brings.
Dalton PenceHOST
15:53
But when you step up to being that first-time play caller, sometimes there's a learning curve.
Dalton PenceHOST
15:58
And unfortunately, the learning curve has been about as large as you hoped it wouldn't be, to the point to where Jeff Brohm is now helping Mark Ivey out.
Dalton PenceHOST
16:08
So second half, I mean, this was the first game where Jeff Brohm gave up the offensive play calling so he could help the defense out.
Dalton PenceHOST
16:15
They give up 20 points, right? I mean, they scored 14 right away, but Louisville made some adjustments.

They give up 20 points, right? I mean, they scored 14 right away, but Louisville made some adjustments.
Dalton PenceHOST
28:31
If that means giving the play calling back to Brian Brom on offense, do it.
Dalton PenceHOST
28:36
If that means helping Mark Ivey out with play calling on defense, do it.
Dalton PenceHOST
28:40
Because the Cardinals are a multiple touchdown favorite in this game.
Dalton PenceHOST
28:45
And I shouldn't have to be sitting here continuing to talk about, well, could this be another letdown? That just highlights the trend that we've had to deal with.
speaker_6UNKNOWN
37:32
I do want to follow that up.
speaker_6UNKNOWN
37:34
Um, this week you seem to have went to the armbands for defense and you moved Mark Ivey to the booth.
speaker_6UNKNOWN
37:39
Are the armbands going to be something that you use going forward? And then as far as play calling, how was that much different than years past and kind of weeks past in getting the play into the defense using the armbands?
Jeff BrohmSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
37:51
Well, Coach Ivey's been up in the booth, uh, uh, the last couple games.
Mike RutherfordHOST
12:15
Jeff talked about it a little bit at his press conference today.
Mike RutherfordHOST
12:17
But Brian did call the plays, and a combination of Jeff and Mike Cassidy, I believe, were, were mostly In charge on the defense, Mark Ivey was up in the box for a second straight game, I, I believe, and Steve Ellis was down on the field like he's been this entire season.
Mike RutherfordHOST
12:31
And I assume that that's the way that it's gonna go.
Mike RutherfordHOST
12:33
Now, Cassidy, I think a lot of people did not know that he was on staff.

Trevor KelseyHOST

Love that song
Mike RutherfordHOST
144:00
...
Mike RutherfordHOST
144:01
Texas, "Mike, I'm calling for Mark Ivey job if FSU went up 21-nothing." I mean, you had people that were calling for it before.
Mike RutherfordHOST
144:06
We, we, we-
Dalton PenceHOST
17:05
Don't even have that conversation.
Dalton PenceHOST
17:07
But I thought it was a pretty valid question and thing to wonder whether or not Mark Ivey would still be calling the defensive plays on Friday against Florida State.
Dalton PenceHOST
17:20
Well, he did, but with Jeff Braum's help.
Dalton PenceHOST
17:24
Brian Braum, the offensive coordinator, called the offensive plays on Friday with the help of the entire offensive staff.

15 MINS LATER

Dalton PenceHOST
32:45
So tomorrow we'll talk a little bit more about what happens moving forward, but that is going to wrap up this Monday edition of the show.
Dalton PenceHOST
32:51
Do me a favor.
Dalton PenceHOST
32:53
What encouraged you the most? Was it the momentum swing? Was it Isaac Brown's, um, legacy performance? Or was it Jeff Brom making some changes and handing the play calling duties offensively to Brian Brom and helping out Mark Ivey from a defensive play calling standpoint? Let me know in the comments below.
Dalton PenceHOST
33:14
That is going to wrap up today's show.
Dalton PenceHOST
26:04
So I sound like a broken record here, but limit the penalties.
Dalton PenceHOST
26:09
What does Mark Ivey do? Because there's a lot of noise right now.
Dalton PenceHOST
26:14
Everybody's wondering why Ivey is still calling plays.
Dalton PenceHOST
26:17
This is an opportunity for Mark to, to show that like, "Hey, look, first time defensive play caller.
Andrea AdelsonHOST
4:41
You mention the defense, and, and here is the big question.
Andrea AdelsonHOST
4:44
You know, Jeff Brohm knew that Ron English was no longer gonna be here, and instead of going out and hiring a defensive coordinator, he elevated Mark Ivey and Steve Ellis, who are s- assistants on staff.
Andrea AdelsonHOST
4:55
That clearly hasn't worked for whatever reason.
Andrea AdelsonHOST
4:59
And Jeff Brohm said this week they have to simplify things.
Dalton PenceGUEST
2:48
But at this point, I'm not really sure that it's so much personnel as it is scheme and play calling.
Dalton PenceGUEST
2:55
Jeff Brom hired or promoted Mark Ivey from a position coach to defensive coordinator.
Dalton PenceGUEST
3:02
This is his first time as a play caller in the Power Four, and it seems like there are some things that he just has to adjust and has to learn because what's currently going on right now, I mean, you just can't keep running this out there every single week because, like you said, it looks like one of the worst defenses in the country.
Dalton PenceGUEST
3:20
I, for the sake of my mental sanity, haven't really looked at the numbers as much this week because I already know they are hashtag very bad.
Dalton PenceGUEST
5:07
But this is more of a scheme issue than a roster one, in my opinion.
Dalton PenceGUEST
5:09
It's a little column A, column B, but...
Dalton PenceGUEST
5:12
If those players aren't in the right position, how can you ask them to consistently make plays? And that's where we are heading into the sixth game of the season thinking, okay, is Jeff Brom going to make any changes or adjustments? Is Mark Ivey going to continue to call the plays? If so, what's he going to do differently? Because at this point, it doesn't look like there's been much that's different.
Dalton PenceGUEST
5:33
And if there has been a change, that's even more discouraging because it looks the same every week.
