Mark Hunter

If you're listening to this prior to 4 o'clock, what we're going to do is preview the London Knights and the Windsor Spitfires home and home.

You're going to hear from Mark Hunter.

You'll hear from the general manager and vice president of hockey operations, With the Windsor Spitfires, Bill Bowler.

You'll also meet some of the newest Knights, too, in fact.

Peterborough certainly... ruined the home opener by beating the Peets by a score of 6-3, and Brody Cook played in that game.

On the other side, you had another former London Knight in Jacob Zhu, and now he is going to make his way with the Peterborough Peets.

So here is Mark Hunter on the fact that there has been a lot of movement for the London Knights from September the 1st until the start of the year.

Well,

The London Knights are just above everybody.

Mark Hunter and Dale Hunter, I played with Dale and, and he-

[laughs]

But he is a great guy and fun to be with, but man, he loves hockey.

You need to hire one person.

Like for me, Mark Hunter out of London and say, you get to make every decision.

We can't sell you nothing.

And the team would flip overnight.

And I'm not even being, uh, hyperbolic when I say that.

Like, the success that Dale and Mark Hunter have had in developing young players into legit NHLers, it's unbelievable.

They've obviously had the top dogs.

You think of Patrick Kane and so on and so forth over the years.

I don't have to tell you that.

My concern is I was looking forward to Jackson Culver playing with the Hunters under Dale Hunter and Mark Hunter there in London and learning the singular most difficult or most important job of a winger in the National Hockey League is to battle on the walls and get pucks out.

And this was a big guy who maybe that was a skill that was required.

It's a different task to get the puck out along the wall.

And I was looking forward to, okay, he's in the right marketplace.

He's got the right staff there.

And Mark Hunter and Dale Hunter are going to teach him how to be an NHL winger.

And now he switches to center.

It required a practicum.

Was fortunate to work with Clark Singer at the University of Western Ontario, uh, with the university team there, and then ultimately get on with Dale and Mark Hunter and the London Knights, who gave me my first big opportunity.

My last year I was an assistant GM there as well.

I was fortunate to win an OHL championship there in 2012.
