I know a lot of people are going to hear this and they're going to say, this doctor's talking off the top of his head.

But when we've looked at surveys, a group of researchers, Mark Horowitz, Joanna Moncrief out of the King's College London, John Reed, he's another researcher over there, they did a survey of people coming off antidepressants.

10% of people had withdrawal symptoms lasting longer than a year coming off.

Okay, that's 10%.

But that has changed because a bunch of researchers led by Dr.

Mark Horowitz, Joanna Moncrief, they started doing surveys on people coming off these drugs.

And what they found was that 33% of people could not come off these medications even though they wanted to.

And they found that 47% of people had severe withdrawal symptoms coming off.

I, I mean, thankfully more and more.

I mean, there's Mark Horowitz in the UK, and a lot of people are reaching out now and doing my wife's, uh, deprescribing mentorship program.

And so there's a lot of junior doctors and NPs who have become really passionate about holistic psychiatric care.

So we are multiplying.

And essentially, based on nothing, 'cause you can look at the paper, based on data that doesn't even make sense, they said antidepressant withdrawal is mild and self-limiting, which means that it goes on for, like, two weeks.

And there, there, there just wasn't a clear clinical rationale that that was what was happening to everyone.

Now, thankfully over the last, like, six or seven years, mostly due to Joanna Moncrieff and Mark Horowitz in the UK, it's a, a group of very dedicated researchers over there.

They're doing a lot of surveys.

Fortunately, we've got people like Dr.

Mark Horowitz, who has helped us out with the Maudsley deprescribing protocol for But again, this is even far more complex and a bit more nuanced than proton pump inhibitor deprescribing.

So the thing about antidepressants is that The way a drug works is it goes onto a receptor in the brain and you might have 100 receptors and then you might have 50 of them filled up by drug and being active.

But with the antidepressants, the number of drug receptors or the occupancy of the drug receptors decreases.

For context, this is basically the gold standard, most authoritative medical text on the risks of psychiatric drugs in the world, authored by Professor David Taylor and Dr.

Mark Horowitz.

So this isn't fringe science.

This is the top of the medical pyramid.
