Mark Dantonio

Rodriguez, the new head coach at Michigan.

Mark Dantonio led Michigan State to a bowl game in his first year with the Spartans as their head coach.

He's a former assistant there.

They will play the Champs Sports Bowl.

If Courtney Hawkins were elevated to the offensive coordinator position, that probably would've been better received than going out and, and getting a guy named Nick Sheridan, who was honestly, um, on the way down at Alabama.

And I'm not trying to, to, to kick up old dirt, but we, we had a promotion demotion during the Dantonio era, in the late in the era with the staff.

Um, those things do happen.

So you've got a guy that's arguably damaged goods.

He has been somebody who they've reached out to.

Mark D'Antonio is part of his lineage.

You know, when Alan Haller called him when they were looking for, now he did recommend Mel Tucker for whatever that's worth.

But he also, when Haller basically said, you know, I have to ask, do you have any interest? You know, he didn't, he said, you know, basically in a different, if I was a little bit younger, that he might.

He's disruptive.

But Coach Mark Dantonio said, "We will just have to move forward." His concern is their depth.

They will have plays, he says, of 30 or more yards where they have to run down the field 60 times tonight.

He said, "If we can be fresh in the fourth quarter, that will be a huge issue," so they will use even more players than normal.

Tabachnik knocked that one away.

It's a good stop for the Michigan State defense.

Uh, Pat Narduzzi, defensive coordinator, came with Mark Dantonio from Cincinnati.

Their defense needing a stop right there and slow down Matt Ryan, who, uh, after a slow start, had, had started to really pick it up.

He has been somebody who they've reached out to.

Like, I mean, uh, Mark Dantonio is part of his lineage.

Um, you know, uh, when Alan Haller called him when they were looking for...

Now, he did recommend Mel Tucker, for whatever that's worth.

[upbeat music] Andrew Abood at the Abood Law Firm has a podcast.

It's called the A-List Hour, and, uh, he interviews all sorts of intriguing people from attorneys to business leaders, to radio hosts, to former football coaches like Mark Dantonio, the former Spartan coach, very successful Spartan coach, and, uh, you can find that wherever you get your podcasts.

And, uh, they talked, uh, about Mark Dantonio's retirement.

You walk away on your terms?

Yeah, I did.
