Mark Brandon Read

But, um, you know, you just sit there and go, "Yeah," you watch the skullduggery of the Australians come out tonight, mate.

There's a reason why Chopper Read and Ned Kelly are national heroes in Australia.

I'll leave it there.

22 minutes after tw- uh, 2:00.

Oh, I totally agree.

Like, everybody in the book's done time except for one person, Mark Tamati Dixon, who was Chopper Read's bodyguard.

You know, he, he was a bouncer.

He's seen it all.

He- he's been on the doors for, for many years, you know? He traveled, traveled around Australia with Chopper Read, and he was Roger Rogerson's bodyguard as well, so.

Wow.

We, we Australians love our colorful characters.

Good Lord.

... "and they get to keep the house.

And it's got, um, Eric Bana in it who played, uh, there's a guy called Mark Brandon, uh, uh, he- nicknamed Chopper Read."

Yeah.

"And he was this gangster."

Uh-huh.

40 seconds, and I go, "Yeah.

And so, and, and Brandon Mark Ch-, um, Mark Brandon Chopper Read, he spent a lot of time...

He was sort of like a gangster kind of thing." And he goes, "I've fucking seen it, mate." [laughs]

Yeah.

Australian celebrity, chopper read, mob hit man who definitely never killed anyone.

We'll get to talk about him.

His literary success is astonishing.

Now, we

all know who Chopper Reed is, don't we? We certainly do, yes.

Well, how about Chopper Malinowski? Ah, and the trees.

I went down Hiney Street the other day thinking, I've never been there for years.

And it's very much looking back at...

A few nights out with Rogerson, Chopper Reed, The Odd Coffee with John Ibrahim and then some of the more serious things that we've talked about here and the murder of Anita Cobby is a large part.

But it's a bit of fun and we'll see how it goes.

I don't know we'll make any money.

It's kind of forced our hand in a lot of ways, which is good.

We're going to be like Chopper Reed, but the reverse.

Instead of saying no cash here, we're going to say

cash.

In fact, he's got his own story actually.

Rod was the handle of a chopper read when he was informing to the police.

You can ask him that later if you want.

But actually remind me later because I've got a Chopper Reads story to finish off my segment.

My part in his most successful heist.

So don't let me stop without telling that story to Cranko.
