Mark Coley in the Toronto Star has a very tongue-in-cheek and funny feature today, but it's actually about something fairly serious.

It's a sculpture of four bronze squirrels in Joel Weeks Park, which is near Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue.

And it's been there, this sculpture, for 12 years, but suddenly one of the four squirrels has disappeared.

And our collector actually went to inspect the damage, saw the missing squirrel, realized that apparently they'd tried to cut the other one loose as well.

So she ended up securing that and taking it back home with her for safekeeping.

But as Mark Coley writes, people wonder, why would somebody steal this piece? One of three reasons, according to an expert.

First, the thief may have hoped to resell the squirrel to a dealer, but no reputable dealer would ever handle stolen work.
