And then in 2024, a researcher named Dr. Marisha Burden and her colleagues published a study in JAMA Internal Medicine, examining this across 32 different healthcare organizations.

In that study, 85% of participants said administrative harm affected patients at least somewhat.

44% said it affected patient care to a great extent.
