Mario Lemieux

Sega Genesis would eventually become Nintendo's biggest competitor during the console wars of the early 1990s.

Nintendo released Super Mario Land for Game Boy, bringing Mario to a handheld gaming system.

SimCity was released for personal computers, introducing a new style of game centered on building and managing an entire city.

How many hours

Gretzky delivered an outstanding first season in LA, recording 54 goals, 114 assists, and 168 points in 78 games.

He won his ninth Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player, despite finishing second in league scoring.

Mario Lemieux produced one of the greatest individual seasons in NHL history, scoring 85 goals and adding 114 assists for 199 points in just 76 games.

Lemieux won his second consecutive Art Ross Trophy, finishing 31 points ahead of Gretzky.

And in particular, let's get into Connor McDavid.

His start to the season is... elite it's Hall of Fame worthy he's just the fourth player in NHL history to have 30 or more points in his first 10 games joining Wayne Gretzky Mario Lemieux and Mike Bossy he is on pace or he was on pace after this game for 260 points

in a season.

The record, by the way, if you don't know, is 215 by Wayne Gretzky in 85, 86.

People don't seem to want to talk about how these owners lost nearly $3.6 billion in 2020 and 2021.

If I remember correctly, the players were still getting their money.

If the players want to start putting in their own money and becoming an employee-run industry, they can make the same kind of profit Mario Lemieux did.

Mario put up $20 million that the Penguins organization owed him.

I think he gets ribbed about that quite a bit.

But he is an unbelievable ambassador for not only Olympic hockey, USA hockey, Boston University hockey, but NHL hockey, Mario Lemieux.

He's got the gift of gab where he can stand up and talk for probably two hours straight.

just telling stories and just embellishing on scoring one goal against the Russians 46 years ago.

Wayne Gretzky did it four times.

Mario Lemieux, fifth with 199 points.

200 points in a season is insane.

McDavid's previous high is 153, which is crazy in the modern era.

I mean, I knew it would be a crazy number, but that one still just made me go, wow.

So Mario Lemieux?

He has 51.

That's pretty good.

Brett Hall scored 86 goals with St. Louis.

90-91, Mario Lemieux, 85.

See, I

always thought the benchmark was like 40 goals.

The only two players in history of NHL to score more points in 10 games.

Mario Lemieux did it twice, 37 and 32.

And Mike Bossy did it, 32.

Even Wayne Gretzky only got to, I think it was 23 or 24 points in 10 games.

McDavid this year, he's playing out of his mind.

Mario Lemieux did 95-96, 92-93, and 88-89.

Did it three times.

Gretzky did it 84-85, and Bossy did it 84-85.
