Mario Bernardi

And in honour of tonight's full moon... which I understand is called the Hunter Moon, and all things celestial that make the world go round.

Here is Solaris by Edmonton composer John Estacio, performed for you by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mario Bernardi.

¶¶ Thank you. . . . ¶¶ Thank you.

¶¶ ¶¶ . . . ¶¶ . . .

Thank you.

Thank you.

Well, that flurry of activity and color was brought to you by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Mario Bernardi.

And that was Solaris by Alberta's very own John Estacio.

[laughs]

And of course, that is the voice of our guest for today, Mario Bernardi, and he wants to talk about 1981's The Four Seasons, a movie that follows the relationship of three couples through four seasons of close encounters of the well-to-do kind.

Now how about you, Mario? Do you have a couple friends like the ones in this movie?

Well, first off, I wanna compliment you on that concise synopsis.

Over the years, the Centre has held countless performances from all of the performing arts spheres.

But on this day back in 1969, 46 nervous and excited performers sat on stage, with Mario Bernardi waving his wand.

The program included works by Prokofiev, Haydn, and a Canadian piece.

Elaine Clemasco remembers the day well.
