Jill, we got a glimpse of what a lack of pool coverage means for various White House events, including, you know, Trump has been on this building spree.

He built a new helipad for Marine One on the South Lawn.

The helicopters always landed.

Now, the reality of the presidency without a news camera nearby was on display today as the president held a ribbon cutting for one of his most cherished projects, the installation of a new helipad on the South Lawn.

But because the audio technician from one of the five major networks wasn't there, it was actually impossible to know what the president was saying over the roar of Marine One.

So there is no microphone because there's no microphone because the pool cameras aren't there.

So maybe, Tim, this is one example of it backfiring just a little bit.

Apparently, he was not on Air Force One.

He was on the helicopter, which I think is called Marine One at the time.

At 7.57 last night, the President of the United States stepped out of Marine One using both hands to carefully grip the rails as he made his way down the stairs to his waiting motorcade.

With much of his face more swollen than usual, his skin tacky with sweat that glistened under the lights shining down on him, he looked defeated and exhausted.

He was once again wearing an oversized dark suit that hung large over his entire body.

The bare-bones White House press office, which no longer has a press secretary after Caroline Leavitt left the position, offered no explanation or public statement.

There was just a sudden update to his schedule around 6.20 p.m. and a gathering time for the press pool to quickly meet at 7 p.m.

When Marine One landed at the Ellipse, reporters noticed an unidentified man sitting across from Donald Trump in the helicopter.

The only two people seen traveling with him in a secondary support helicopter were Natalie Harp, who is described as his human comfort blanket, and Walt Nada, who served as Trump's valet during his first term in office and is now an aide to the president.

I fucking love that.

In a show of support with the banned outlets, several outlets, including the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Associated Press, said they would not publish or distribute images taken as part of the White House photography pool on Monday, including the president's departure on Marine One and his events at the United Nations in New York until midnight Eastern Friday.

In a statement, the Washington Post described the action as part of a collective effort.

And then I guess they had an explanation today.

Over the weekend, Trump landed Marine One at the White House, but he did not use the helipad.

So there was a rumor over the weekend that Trump doesn't like landing on the helipad.

and that it was strictly another vanity ordeal, just strictly another vanity project that Trump wanted, but he doesn't like landing on it.

Walking to and from to and from media.

Marine One, the helicopter.

Media is there.

On the plane.

But let me get to the real-world implication of that.

Donald Trump today opened his stupid fucking helipad, had a ribbon cutting for it, had the Marine One behind it.

There was no audio.

None.
