Now, what impact have those price changes had on the poorest households and, and how do we quantify that?

Uh, if we focus, for example, on Sub-Saharan Africa where we have around 210 million people cooking with, uh, LPG today, almost half of these users, uh, now need to spend at least, uh, one percentage point additional of their income on, uh, cooking fuel if we assume that they keep the same, uh, consumption.

And for the poorest household this is even a steeper impact because for some, uh, they have to spend an additional 10% or more of their income to keep, uh, using LPG to cook.

Uh, so this has been pushing some communities towards, uh, reverting to, uh, traditional cooking fuels and this could mean either increasing fuel stocking, which means I cook, uh, a lower share of my, uh, meals with LPG and, uh, a bigger share of my meals with traditional cooking fuels when this is available.

But in some cases there is of- also the barrier of having the fuel accessible because in context, for example, in some urban context where LPG became an established solution, even switching back to, uh, traditional cooking fuels is not even accessible.

So in some cases people even had to move somewhere else to be able to access affordable, uh, fuel.

What measures have we seen to try and keep the price down? And maybe we can think about how people have been encouraging people to change their behavior as well.
