I hear that
13:09
... was critical, um, for me to catch myself, um, and always remind myself, would this be something that I want my daughter to grow up with? Um, 'cause I know, first of all, I know how ingrained it is in women that I work with, that diet culture has started and the, the thought processes, the seeds were planted usually seeing their mothers or other figure in their early life that was either talking to themselves badly or got on the scale all the time or was constantly dieting.
13:46
I didn't have that extreme.
13:49
Mine was really more feeling shitty about myself, just like the, the body image monster itself, and I just didn't want Charlie to grow up that way.
13:59
I didn't want her to feel that.
14:00
And so, and now, you know, part of the book is I have a whole t- uh, e- exploration named the Charlie Test because she inspired me so much to say, "Okay, if I have this negative whatever it is, how do I put it through a filter that is powerful for me?" And given not everyone ha- is a mother, um, but we all have friends, um, that talk bad to themselves.
14:27
We all have-- we all know someone that we can name this test after, um, to refilter or the filter.

30 MINS LATER

45:01
Right
23:34
[laughs]
23:36
It does.
23:37
And you know, and a- again, this kinda goes back to, to figuring out what it is that motivates you, too, because we are all so different.
23:45
M- someone might be motivated by a colorful bingo card.
23:50
Someone might be motivated by a spreadsheet because then they can pull up some kind of a chart and because that's what they need to see.
23:57
Some people might like something else.
23:59
Figure out what would make it...
26:56
[laughs]
26:52
Can you just talk to us about how that works out? Because I spent my life thinking I needed to do 90 minutes here and, you know, an hour there always, and, and it's been a, it's been a battle for me to cut that down and realize that, um, less is more, more frequent is more.
27:08
Yes.
27:08
Well, less is more doable, which ends up being more in the long run for sure.
27:13
Basic math, if you were to quit, uh, your 90-minute workouts three months from now but you're still turtling along with your 10 minutes forever, you're gonna have more success.
27:24
So what I have found out over, you know, working in this industry for 20-plus years is that especially in this stage that we are, that setting a parameter on I have to do 60 minutes means, uh, it's an all or nothing approach often, and people will choose nothing if they can't do what they had set out to do because there's a failure aspect to not being able to do it.
27:46
So when we look at success as any movement is success, then it becomes achievable because anything we do, it could be lunging across your hall, that's success.
27:57
You just did that.

What's any advice that you can give people for... who are trying it, thinking about it?
