Margie Hendrix

Now we're turning to a voice that could deliver soul music with extra ornery power and conviction.

The artist is Margie Hendrix and the track Restless, released on Mercury Records in 1967.

She was born in Register, Georgia.

Margie began her music journey in gospel before moving to New York and joining the Cookies, a female vocal group who recorded for Atlantic.

2004 was another milestone year for Regina after she won the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

She also earned a cast nomination from the Screen Actors Guild Awards for her excellent performance as Margie Hendrix in Ray.

She also had a role in a teen romantic comedy, A Cinderella Story, which opened doors for her 2005 role in Miss Congeniality 2, Armed and Fabulous.

She stepped into voice acting by voicing Huey and Riley Freeman in The Boondocks.

So I picked two songs that really feature the Raylettes.

They are Margie Hendrix, who does the lead, and exchanges leads with Ray Charles on records.

Gwendolyn Berry, Darlene McRae, and Priscilla Lyles are the Raylettes.

He supplies me with love day by day My baby He knows all the right things to say My baby Yes, I do Oh, yes, I do

for Ray Charles, but I think a terrific one.

Recorded in 1959.

Margie Hendrix is the

lead female voice on that.
