Margaret Jenkins

It was a great ballet company, but it was not this sort of like... uniform kind of ballet company, lots of different types of dancers, sizes of dancers, the repertoire was varied and everything, so that seemed like more of a San Francisco thing back then, right? And there were lots of modern companies that seemed to be more of like a California-type thing.

Margaret Jenkins, the Oberlin Dance Collective, all those places were very much, I think, products of that city.

When I first started working in dance, back in the 80s, and when I first started working with ABT, the dancers were different.
