Marcus Annius Verus Caesar

The ancient sources speak of at least 13, and most of them died as children.

Twins who never grew up, daughters who were gone far too soon, and a son, Annius Verus, just seven years old, who died after an operation in the middle of the war.

According to the ancient chronicles, the emperor mourned for only a few days and went back to his duties because the empire could not wait.

Years later, during a journey through the east, Faustina died too, his companion of a lifetime.
