Marco Beltrami

That sounds so familiar.

Marco Beltrami returns, or I don't know, he probably did three, but he returned for number four in the franchise.

He's one of the GOATs.

It's not a screen movie without him.

But as that's happening and the shot is lingering on that, Alice Cooper schools out, starts playing, and we get this – amazing l cut sequence to a boombox to tatum and sid talking about how cotton may actually be innocent and the killer could still be out there but i think that is actually the perfect place to do a little segment that we like to call what's the score And I love the score in Scream.

It is done by Marco Beltrami, who is a two-time Oscar-nominated composer for his work on 310 to Yuma and The Hurt Locker.

But the American composer established an early reputation as a genre innovator with his non-traditional horror scores for specifically the Scream franchise.

And this was a big one.

Like, I feel like a lot of the times they put out the score right on Spotify.

It's easy to find.

But finding the Marco Beltrami score was super tough back then.

But yeah, just a fun thing.

Couldn't find really a lot on him.

The music was by Marco Beltrami, who did Scream 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7.

Took a break in there.

Okay.

My biggest issue with it, I don't dislike the story or what it does, it's an interesting take on the first Resident Evil game, But I do dislike the fact that it's the sound for me.

Marilyn Manson helped do the music on it, and then they had, I believe it was Marco Beltrami, who was doing the score and the two styles just smash up against each other too much for me.

You know, you've got Marilyn Manson just want to play hardcore metal tracks and then Marco Beltrami trying to then come out to some sort of orchestral score, and the two just don't gel together particularly nicely, in my opinion, and that annoys me in the modern day.

It does obviously feature the classic sequence that they'll go back to time and time again throughout the series with the laser grid.

I still think that's cool to this day.

I mean, what else do y'all have? I know that I have a few things, but what do you have? Yeah.

Well, I know one of the most iconic things also is the music for this movie by Marco Beltrami.

He actually does the music for movies one through four, and he came back to do the music for seven.

And I definitely think it adds to the movie.

It grows in its depth each time that I see it, and I appreciate it for new things.

I mean, right from the very beginning, you know, uh, during the studio logos, you hear Marco Beltrami's gorgeous Sidney's Lament, and I mean, that...

I mean, from the very first frame, it's cementing, you know, that this is Sidney's story.

And so yeah, I, yeah, I just absolutely love it.

You know, part of how I fell in love with Scream was thinking about, like, the, you know, the Roman, Billy, Stu, Maureen, Hank, Nancy web of conspiracy that was going on behind the scenes, and I feel like you can similarly look at, you know, what's going on in Scream 7 and b- in Pinegrove and specifically Jessica.

Um, and I, I think that's something that, like, you know, that people miss about this movie is, you know, kinda like the plan, if that makes sense.

Like, the plan of Jessica and Marco and Carl and, like, the way that they would've negotiated and how they kinda set this up and what their purpose was, how they worked together.

Like, for instance, it kind of dawned on me, Jessica was at the coffee shop, right? With Sidney.

And will I hang on to this movie? Yes, of course I will.

There's never been an installment of this franchise I've actually disliked, even though some of them go down better than others, and this has some fun scares, big thrills, a great score from Marco Beltrami, and a performance for the ages from Matthew Lillard, even though he's not technically playing Stu.

I absolutely support anyone who feels the need to boycott this movie due to the politics behind its production, and if you decide to pirate this rather than pay for it, then yo-ho-ho, me hearties, because fuck Paramount.

But that's not why most reviewers disliked it, and I think it's unfair to blame it for being the movie it was and not the movie people wanted it to be.
