I'm speaking today with Marcel Beyer of Goethe University Frankfurt about his research on how European insurers' corporate bond investment behavior changed during periods of market stress, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

His paper, Gambling for Market Recovery, examines whether insurers shifted towards safer assets early in a crisis and then into riskier high-yield instruments later.
