Where did that, where did that come from?

I got bar mitzvah'd when I was 13, as most Jewish kids, uh, do back in the day and even now, and, um, it's...

Uh, being a rabbi is being a performer, and I like standing in front of all those people and doing what I had to do that day, and I thought, "Well, okay, this is, this is kinda cool." But I also had this thing in the back of my head about, you know, I was obsessed with Johnny Carson when he was doing a game show called Who Do You Trust? And I would run home, I'd get off the bus at, like, 3:25, and at 3:30 on, uh, the ABC affiliates when they first kicked off back in the day, Johnny was doing that show and I was obsessed with Johnny Carson.

And although there were no computers and no way to kind of look up things the way we do today, I did my research somehow going to libraries and found out that Johnny started his career as a magician and I thought, "Well, if it worked for Johnny, maybe it'll work for me." And I went to, uh, West Lane Junior High in Indianapolis, and they had a magic club and I joined the magic club.

And, uh- Uh, that got me in front of the audience doing tricks.

And, uh, I had to make a decision at some point.

I liked the idea of maybe being a rabbi, but I also liked the idea of being a performer on television.

You're, you've gotta interact with people and, and talk to people and shake their hands, and like, so tell me a little bit more specifically about your OCD and how you got past it.

What does the slime consist of?

Well, Jeff, I gotta tell you, um, when it first started, I, I had something called obsessive compulsive disorder, which I was not aware of at the time.

I just knew I was a neatness guy and didn't wanna get messy.

So the first 65 episodes I wasn't even wearing, uh, Reeboks, I was wearing penny loafers, and I was able to dodge that mess.

I never got a drop on me at all.

And then when the show started to take off, at the time UHF channels were running Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes, getting huge numbers, and all of a sudden the numbers on their shows went away because Double Dare and Nickelodeon started to explode.

And they did some research with the kids and said, um, "What's one part of the show that you'd like to see different?" And they said, "We wanna see the hosts get messy." So when we got picked up for season two, uh, the Nick executives called me in the office and they said, "Things are going great.

How did this reunion come together? How, how did you decide to do it?
